I. AM. IN. AWE.

In am in awe that God would choose me—a fellow educator—to write a book for others walking the same path.
I am in awe that He could take both my missteps and milestones and use them to offer hope and encouragement.
I am in awe that He would fill my heart and mind with insight to speak into the challenges we face in today’s educational landscape.
I am in awe to be part of emboldening Christian educators to bear spiritual fruit in their workplaces.
I am in awe of the deep, personal transformation I experienced through every prayer, every page, and every moment of writing.
I am in awe that I finished something I once believed was beyond me.
Simply put, I’m astounded and deeply grateful. Only God.
The Story Behind the Book
Taking Jesus to School: The Fruit of the Spirit on Display was born in my heart more than fifteen years ago. Honestly, it’s been so long ago that I can’t remember the exact moment. However, I do know this: God wouldn’t let it go. Has God ever asked you to do something, and your first response was doubt? That was me. The idea of writing a book felt impossible. I questioned whether it was really from Him or just a thought I came up with. I wasn’t ready. Life was full—raising two daughters and working full time left little space for anything else.
Through the years, however, God kept whispering. Sermons. Bible studies. Casual conversations. Work experiences. All of it. He used every moment to affirm His calling until it became clear: obey or disobey.
Did I feel equipped? No.
Did I know what I was doing? Not really.
Did I have all the right tools or support? Definitely not.

None of that mattered. God said, “It is time. You are ready.” So I began to write, trusting Him to guide and provide.
Was it challenging? Yes.
Did I doubt myself? Yes.
Did I wonder if it would ever be published? Often.
Nevertheless, here we are. Taking Jesus to School is now available on most online bookstores, including Amazon and Barnes & Noble. You can also order directly from the publisher, Westbow Press.
Why This Book Matters
I believe God is drawing Christian educators to Himself, reminding us that we are deeply loved and strategically placed. Our world desperately needs Jesus, and compartmentalizing our faith is not an option. We are ambassadors for Christ. However, the fruit of the Spirit isn’t something we can will into existence. It’s the overflow of a heart rooted in Him. That’s why I wrote this book.
How many of us long to experience true love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control? Anyone? Each chapter unpacks one aspect of the fruit of the Spirit—rooted in Scripture, seen in the life of Jesus, and made real through practical examples. Every chapter ends with “homework,” but not the kind meant to keep you busy. This homework draws us deeper into Christ, inviting His Spirit to shape our lives.
A Vision for Christian Educators
I pray this book lands in the hands of every Christian educator across this country and around the world. Is that a big dream? Absolutely, but our God is a big God, and He calls us to join Him in God-sized tasks. This may not be a perfect book by the world’s standards, but it was written with faith and obedience. I believe our perfect God will use it for His purposes.
If you read it, I hope it encourages you. If you share it, I hope it inspires others. I imagine small groups of educators coming together—reading, dialoguing, learning, growing, and displaying the fruit of the Spirit in their schools, shining the light of Jesus in even the darkest places.
Encouragement for Your Own God-Sized Assignment
This journey has taught me so much. I’m confident God has—or will—place something on your heart, too. So let me leave you with a few lessons I’ve learned along the way.
It’s never too late to follow through on God’s calling.
You don’t need to know the outcome to take the first step.
God often calls us to what we feel ill-equipped to do so that we learn to depend on Him.
It’s okay to be afraid. Fear can drive us to our knees.
God honors obedience, even if it’s messy.
Every experience, every success, and every setback is preparation for what’s next.
Do your best, listen closely, take the next step, and surrender the rest.
I have one request of you. Please pray over this book and the spiritual impact it will have on our fellow educators. Prayer carried me through this process, and I know it will carry me through whatever comes next.
My heart is full.
